Miko the Kitty: August 31
Kyrgyzstan celebrates its Independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The country, surrounded by China to the east, Kazakhstan to the north, Uzbekistan to the west and Tajikistan to the south, is known as the “Switzerland of Central Asia” due to its fascinating snowy mountains which are ideal for practicing ski and other winter sports. Kyrgyzstan hosts the fascinating Lake Issyk Kul, the world's second largest mountain lake after Lake Titicaca in Peru. Other great tourist attractions are the Jailoo, a high summer pasture where you can hike or go on a horseback riding adventure. In addition visit different places used in the 15th century by the people traveling along the Great Silk way. Don’t forget to visit also the Tash-Rabat Complex located 60km from the village of At-Bashi, a site of ancient settlements from the Middle Ages which is very well preserved. Take a look at what other marvels await you in this country!
